Gathering talents from all over the world to show talent
In autumn and September, the wind is cool. On September 1, 2018, the 2nd "Underwater Robot Picking Contest" sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation Committee and the Dalian Municipal People's Government opened solemnly. The competition lasted six days and was divided into the preliminary contest held at the experimental site of Dalian Maritime University and the final contest held at Zhangzi Island. A total of 30 teams from all over the country participated in target recognition, fixed-point grabbing and independent grabbing. The competition is jointly sponsored by Dalian University of Technology, Dalian Science and Technology Bureau, Dalian High-tech Industrial Park, Shenyang Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changhai County People's Government and Dalian Maritime University, and co-sponsored by Zhangzi Island Group Co., Ltd.
Song Chaohui, deputy director of the Information Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Yu Xiaodan, deputy director of Dalian Science and Technology Bureau, Wang Xiaoyong, deputy president of Dalian Maritime University, assistant president of Dalian University of Technology, Secretary of the Party and Labor Committee of the Development Zone Campus, director of the Management Committee Luo Zhongxuan, as well as the organizing committee, judges and excellent delegates from all over the country attended the opening ceremony.
Underwater Robot Picking Contest(URPC) builds an integrated platform of production, learning and research of underwater intelligent equipment, and brings together top research institutions and companies at home and abroad to invest in the research and development of URPC, which provides a competitive platform for the industrial practice in the field of URPC in China. The competition actively promotes the deep integration of artificial intelligence and marine economy, organically combines scientific research results with marine pasture industry, and carries out in-depth discussions and practices on the core scientific problems, key technologies and frontier directions in this field from various colleges and universities nationwide, so as to reasonably solve the related problems found. These will certainly promote the prosperity and development of China's marine equipment field.
In 2017, the Joint Laboratory of underwater robots was established by the school and the Swertz Island Group. Collaborative innovation research was carried out around key common technical issues in the field of marine equipment automation, such as underwater agile robots. The research on the grasping and testing platform of underwater robots was strongly supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The National Natural Science Foundation of China said that it would continue to increase funding in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics, and support more teams to meet the actual needs of enterprises.
Finally, I wish this contest a complete success, and all the participating teams have made outstanding achievements in underwater fishing for marine ranches.
